Because the weather looks good for the upcoming few weeks, the pools will remain open until 9/16. On that date we will make a decision to close or remain open based on weather
Reminder- September is Emergency Preparedness Month
Please don’t throw away your copy of the September Boones Ferry Messenger from the City of Wilsonville. All of page 5 contains important information from FEMA and other sources about getting your home ready for an emergency. Everything in those articles complements what your own CHOA Emergency Preparedness Team is developing to help in the event of an emergency that leaves Charbonneau isolated for a day or more. Doing some preparation will ready us for the state-wide practice drill, The Great Oregon Shakeout, which takes place October 17, 2019, at 10-17 in the morning. Let’s all “be prepared.”

Reminder- Feeding of Wild birds or animals except Hummingbirds is Prohibited in CHOA
As you know, we have seen an increase in the number of wild animals in Charbonneau- there have been recent reports and sightings of a Cougar, Coyotes, Skunks, Racoons, Rats and Mice.
In order to try to stem this trend, we want to help eliminate as much of their food sources as possible. Therefore, we are asking that each CHOA neighbor refrain from feeding any animals and/or birds anywhere in CHOA or around your home except for Hummingbirds. This includes inside your courtyard also.
In addition, please feed your pets indoors only and don’t leave them unsupervised outside.
Thanks in advance for your help here to make CHOA a safer neighborhood.
Slow Down signs on Boones Bend and Fairway Dr
Slow Down Signs for two of our busiest streets.
In CHOA we have two roads that are used more frequently than other roads; Fairway Dr and Boones Bend. These roads are used by residents, contractors and guests. In addition to vehicle traffic, most of our roads are used by residents as walking and biking paths.
For some time CHOA has been concerned with the legal speed of 25 mph. 25mph is too fast when cars are parked illegally, contractors are parked while unloading, and there are walkers or bikers too.
In July CHOA did a speed study on Fairway Dr. The result, almost all drivers were traveling at 25 mph or lower.
We are asking CHOA residents to drive at a speed closer to 15-20 mph. We ask walkers and bikers to take responsibility for their own safety by staying close to the side of the street.
We are working with the city to monitor the speed and possible solutions to protect the safety of all of our residents.

CHOA Welcomes Lady Bugs
Please note that Garron Grounds has placed Lady Bug Bags in the large leaf Maples and Linden trees for aphid control. The “ladies” can eat up to 50 aphids a day and are a safe and natural method for aphid control.
The lady bugs are placed in the trees in the evening hours in small bags. They move out of the bags into their new homes where the food supply is plentiful. So if you see the little bags in the trees please don’t remove them.
Please note that the heater for the Spa in Pool B is not working
Please note that the heater for Spa B has broken. The Spa is still usable but will not be heated. We anticipate it taking a couple of weeks to repair. Good news is the weather is planning to be nice during this time so perhaps a cooler Spa will be refreshing. We are working hard to get this back up and running.

Save the DATE – September 21st 10:00 am Neighborhood watch training
Officer Sara McClurg will present information and training on how to set up a Neighborhood watch with your closest neighbors (ideally 5 residents)
When: Saturday September 21st at 10:00 am
Where: Rec Hall C on Lafaeyette
Please talk with your neighbors and plan to attend as a group.
We will need to confirm who will be attending so that Sara can bring the right amount of training materials.
